WHAT IS OVER WEIGHT?

An adult is considered overweight when his\her weight has crossed the healthy level, which depends on the persons height. This is identified by his\her body mass index.

What is body mass index? It is the standard used by researchers to define a persons weight according to his \her weight.

Body mass index is weight in kilograms divided by the square of your height in meters or kg\m2

An individual is overweight if his body mass index (BMI)  is between  25 & 29.9. he is obese if it is 30 or more.

EG; if for a 5’4”(160.16cms) woman BMI is 30 mean s she is 30 pounds more than her healthy weight.

Note: this is one way of deciding whether you are obese. Another method of judging your obesity is by determining the waist circumference using a measuring tape.

This risk increase if the waist measures more than 40 inches(101.6cms) in men and more than 35 inches (88.9cms) in women this is a good indicator of one’s abdominal fat.

You may pinch the  abdominal muscles and check whether you are obese, first ensure that you are overweight or not. If you are overweight you are fatly.

Now tighten the abdominal muscles by pinching. With both your hands hold up right the flesh either to the left or right of the navel.

Then find out the thickness of the flesh between the fingers and the  thumb . If you are thin the thickness is less than 0.25inches.

if you are normal weight it would from 0.25 to 0.5 inches. If you are overweight it is more 0.5 inches. If you are more obese it is more than 2” and even it is not possible to lift up the flesh in few cases. By pinching you would come to know whether the fat content is more or not.

The table 2 below gives the height VS weight chart for both men and women. From the chart depending on the height of a persons his\ her weight what is supposed to be may be know the weight varies from person to person depending on their shape also the chart is significant.
