Hippocrates, the father of medicine said that food is medicines. Food is required by the body to have energy. Like pure air, clean water and pollution free environment, the food we eat is also important to have good health. Food is required to live. We have to eat food to live 3. At the same time, we must know that we should not live to eat.



Man is active only when he eats food. It gives nutrition to the body. If we do not eat our thinking power diminishes . Even the attractive thing become useless. Not only human, even animals also get satisfaction after they eat food. Because they ate food they become able to produce further.

The important factors to be observed while eating are

1    1 .   At every stage, one has to give priority to the nutrients and these nutrients should be made available suitably.

2    2 . The aim in our life should be development of health and prevention of disease. We must understand the meaning of the adage “prevention is better than cure”

3    3. There should be no scarcity for food. Diseases not only appear in persons who eat more but also appear in persons who are short of food. Therefore, nutrition is very important.

An interesting Chinese proverb says any disease enters through mouth. But most of us do not agree the fact that food contributes to the development of disease. We are, what we eat.
Obesity is caused by over nourishment and faulty nourishment. It is just the result of the wrong balance of essential nutrients

Similarly, the body cannot accept foods without proper nutrients.
Most of us eat over cooked, artificial and processed( commercial, fried) food because they are taste to our palate; but remember they are injurious to health. No body likes in these days, to eat either raw or mildly cooked food. But raw food and less cooked food are good for healthy foods.
Choose healthy foods always. Healthy foods include vegetables, fruit, grains and lean sources of protein, including beans, fish, low fat dairy production and lean meats. These foods optimize nutrition. Do not eat junk foods which are less nutritive.

 Diet therapy is considered to be scientific way of curing obesity which includes

1 Fasting for very short periods
2 Replacing wrong food with the right one .Avoiding wrong foods that increase weight and replacing them by valuable raw food, green and fresh natural food.
Dietary changes though help, care is to be taken while adopting them.
